Audible Edge Finders
This Edge Finder gives the machine operator an audible clicking sound when the tip jumps, and the Black Tip on the Edge Finder is also easier to see when it jumps.
The Audible Edge Finders are available in 5 sizes with 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", or 10mm shanks (Style AG has a step shank of 10mm/.375"). All surfaces are hardened and working surfaces (OD & ends) are ground.
When the Edge Finder is zeroed in, the center of the spindle is one half the tip diameter when the tip jumps (approximately 1/32") sideways. The Edge Finder works equally well on round or straight surfaces. You may pick up a pointed surface surface by passing the rotating spindle past the point.
Maximum RPM for Shank diameter of 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", and 10mm is 1500 RPM
Maximum RPM for Shank diameter of 3/4" is 1000 RPM
These Edge Finders should not be used in any high speed spindle
